“[We need] to bring new technologies to the front line more quickly than in the past and for these to be adapted to meet new threats through technology insertion and flexible production.”
Rear Admiral Amjad Hussain, Director General Weapons, DE&S, UK MoD

Meet technical challenges of today’s’ weapons integration for current and future air power requirements.

Weapons System Integration is an extremely technically challenging process, but after the expense of aircraft procurement and the cost of buying the weapon, the delays of being able to field the new capability through integration are scandalous.

Priorities have now to be placed in order to ensure that expensive weapon effect is available to front line forces rather than being stored in a warehouse, as money is lost during integration efforts; which runs at $100m per weapon per platform.

The need for flexible and adaptable systems to allow for technological advances is indisputable; the need for improvement is acute.

The Universal Armament Interface (UAI) is the most high-profile project. This has advanced at speed and is now the blueprint for an international approach to plug and play weapon integration.

The NATO Armament Interface (NAI) has the potential to be the solution that everyone is looking for, but it is a long term solution.

Defence IQ’s Air Weapons Integration conference will provide technical insight into the progress with the UAI and assess when and where the benefit of a fully interoperable set of munitions will be felt.

This remains a long term initiative, so what can be done to reduce the cost of weapons integration now?

Why now? And why us?

Defence IQ continues to produce solid, inspiring and solutions focused events, Air Weapons Integration is no different.

This event will cover the technical aspects of integration, covering case studies on Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground integration and modern and legacy platforms – including Joint Strike Fighter, AIM-9X Sidewinder, AIM-7R Sparrow, F/A-18E/F, Eurofighter Typhoon, Tornado and UCAVs

Now, more than ever efficiency is at the forefront of all our minds. Air Weapons Integration will intensively cover how to deliver improved efficiency within the integration process, plus reducing costs timescales, enabling you to achieve faster project delivery to the end user.

Who’s speaking?

This 4th annual conference will feature more technical detail and analysis of these high profile efforts alongside a range of integration case studies. Key speakers include:

  • Captain John "Snooze" Martins, Director, Air Vehicle, F-35 Lightning II Programme Office, US Navy
  • Chris Poole, DES Weapons Technology and Concepts – Integration, UK MoD
  • Captain Lawrence Burt, Head Strike Aircraft Plans and Programs, US Navy
  • Dr. Mikel Miller, Technical Director, Advanced Guidance Division, Munitions Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, USAF
  • Quentin D'Arcy, Section Leader, Operational Factors, Crew Systems and General Systems, NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency
  • Commander Joseph B. Hornbuckle, III, Director of Engineering, Air-to-Air Missiles, US Navy
  • David Neel, Chief Engineer Universal Armament Interface, Lockheed Martin

If you are not yet ready to register, feel free to request a reminder nearer the time.
